July 2022 - Both the Fleischmann (N) and Roco (HO, TT and HOe) equipment will receive new article numbers.
Just as Fleischmann ran up against the order number limits in 1986 and then in 2008, both Fleischmann's stock in N scale and Roco's stock in HO, HOe and TT scales are now switching to a new article number system.
The new article number system is also intended to standardize the different article number systems for ROCO (5 digits) and FLEISCHMANN (6 digits). Existing article numbers are fully retained for both brands and will not be changed.
Article numbers.
Since the article number is also a means of communication with regard to all equipment, an attempt was made to develop a new system of article numbers with logic based on the existing numbers. To standardize both brands and gauges, the length was set to 7 digits.
Type of article.
Here the new article number system is explained on the basis of the rolling stock. The item type is defined by the first two digits of the new format (locomotive, wagon, accessories, etc.).
Track width and design.
The distinction between ROCO and FLEISCHMANN articles is no longer indicated by the length of the number. The distinguishing feature is defined with the 3rd digit. The distinction between analog and digital, but also the alternating current variant, is therefore only determined by this single number. This number applies to locomotives, wagons and sets.
The following digits (4-7) are unique and ascending for each number range. An article number is defined by the combination of prefix, track gauge/design and additional numbers..
Example.
Comparison of current article number and new article number on the basis of two ROCO electric locomotives. To the right, the comparison of current item number and new item number based on a FLEISCHMANN electric locomotive, as well as two steam locomotives.
